The Benefits of Using a Sequestrant in Preparation and Dyeing Fiber Reactive Dyes

Calcium, magnesium and heavy metal ions can be found in hard water, peroxide stabilizers, electrolytes as well as the cotton yarn, fabrics and polyester/cotton blends.

The use of a non-foaming sequestrant in preparation and dyeing will improve water absorbency and softness of the fabric. Also, improves winding properties of cotton yarn as well as eliminate precipitation problems found in dyeing.

Reactive Dye Systems prevents issues with:

  • Solubility
  • Dye deposition
  • Unlevelness
  • Fixation efficiency in certain red dyes
  • Shade reproducibility and shade change cause by trace amounts metal ions
  • Fastness
  • Enhances brightness of dyeing
  • Prevents build-up of scale in machinery

The sequestrant used must not have a de-metalizing effect with metal containing reactive dyes such as Reactive Blue 21.
